Training for Scissor Lifts
Scissor Lifts are an Aerial Work Platform (AWP) or Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP), also known as a cherry picker or bucket truck. They provide a temporary platform for workers to access hard-to-reach areas at height.
Premises Requirements
- Scissor lift in good working order and safe condition.
- A training room to carry out the classroom-based theory elements of the course.
- An area of approximately 60sqm to operate the MEWP, to conduct practical lessons and assessments.
Course Requirements
Information on minimum training requirements for Scissor Lifts course is below:
- Novice: For candidates who have no experience of operating this type of lift truck.
- Experienced: For candidates with practical experience but no formal initial training (not listed on the NORS register).
- Refresher: For candidates requiring re-certification following expiry of their current certificate (already listed on the NORS register).
- Conversion: For candidates who have certification on one machine, that need to be trained, tested and certified on a different machine.
