Training for Counterbalance Forklift Trucks

The fork-lift truck, also known as a counter balance lift truck, is one of the most successful lifting machines of all time. Fork-lifts are rated for particular loads at a maximum weight and forward centre of gravity. It is important for machine operators to understand the limitations of the machine they are operating, to maintain safety in the workplace. Our courses are designed to give your workers the accredited training they need to use the fork-lift efficiently and safely at all times.

Premises Requirements

  • Counterbalance fork-lift truck in good working order and safe condition.
  • A training room to carry out the classroom-based theory elements of the course.
  • An area of approximately 30-60sqm to operate the Fork-lift, to conduct practical lessons and assessments.
  • 30 or more empty pallets.
  • Loads to lift, move & stack.
  • Racking or loads that can be stacked at ground, eye & higher levels.

Course Requirements

Information on minimum training requirements for Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck course is below: 

  • Novice: For candidates who have no experience of operating this type of lift truck.
  • Experienced: For candidates with practical experience but no formal initial training (not listed on the NORS register).
  • Refresher: For candidates requiring re-certification following expiry of their current certificate (already listed on the NORS register).

Conversion: For candidates who have certification on one machine, that need to be trained, tested and certified on a different machine.
