RTITB Accredited Training Courses

All our courses are designed to meet the requirements placed upon employers in regards to their duties, under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974; the Provision and use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER); the Lift Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), and other relevant industry regulations and codes of practice.

Avoid Costly Mistakes

In the UK, approximately 1300 people are involved in fork lift related accidents each year, according to the British Safety Council. A significant portion of these incidents, 43%, involve impacts with pedestrians or other individuals not directly operating the fork lift. These accidents often stem from poor supervision, lack of training and unsafe operating practices. This highlights the importance of comprehensive training, adequate segregation of pedestrians and fork lifts; and thorough risk assessments in the workplace, as mandated by the Health and Safety Executive. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide effective training for their MHE operators, as per the PUWER Regulations 1988 and the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974. This increases safety and minimises the risk of accidents, whilst also improving the awareness and efficiency of the operator.

Health & Safety at Work

We follow the Approved Code of Practice for rider-operated lift trucks, known as L117, the HSE’s definitive point of reference for fork lift training. L117 has special legal status so if it’s proved that you, as an employer, failed to follow its requirements, a Court will find you at fault unless you have complied with the Law in some other way. By adhering to these regulations, you will ensure your operators will be fully compliant with UK Law. More information about the regulations concerning rider-operated lift trucks can be found on the HSE’s website.
